Introduction

LibreTimes is an open-source publishing platform for academic and educational work. You publish lectures, worked problems, theory writeups, essays, and notes on a profile that doubles as your academic CV.

It exists because teaching material has nowhere good to live. Preprint servers take research and not lecture notes. Institutional pages disappear when you change jobs. Personal sites do not render mathematics properly, carry no citation weight, and connect to nothing.

What you can publish

Teaching material (lectures, seminars, tutorials, labs, problem sets), exposition (theory, talks, cheatsheets, references, popular science), and writing (essays, notes). Everything renders as Markdown with mathematics, code, diagrams, figures, and attachments.

All of it is living content: you can edit or delete it freely and it keeps the same address. Theses, preprints, and original research are deliberately not published here – those are citable records that should never change once published. See what is planned.

How it compares

arXiv is research preprints, PDF-first, with no profiles and no teaching content. The two complement each other: you can link your arXiv work from your profile, and LibreTimes treats teaching material as a first-class output rather than an afterthought.

ResearchGate and Academia.edu are closed and ad-supported, and they build profiles about you by scraping rather than letting you write one. LibreTimes is open-source and author-controlled – the profile is something you author, not something done to you.

A personal homepage does not render mathematics by default, does not connect to your wider publication record, and does not survive you changing institutions.

What it is not

  • Not a journal. No editorial workflow, no peer review, no acceptance bar.
  • Not a Q&A forum. Stack Exchange and MathOverflow do that.
  • Not an interactive-lessons site. Brilliant does that.
  • Not a competitive-programming platform. Codeforces and AtCoder do that.
  • Not a social network for scientists. The profile is a CV, not a feed.

What you get

  • Mathematics that works. Inline and display formulae, long expressions that scroll rather than overflow, and a shared macro set so you are not redefining \R in every document.
  • A profile that is a CV. Education, positions, teaching, talks, grants, awards, and skills, each with its own visibility.
  • Your whole publication record, including work published elsewhere, matched automatically from external sources when you link your ORCID.
  • Attachments up to 100 MB per file.
  • An interface in five languages – English, Russian, French, German, and Chinese – and content tagged by the language it is written in.
  • Credit for authors who cannot sign up. Profiles exist for historical figures and for authors whose work was matched from external databases, so attribution does not depend on someone having an account.
