Create an account

Accounts are invite-only. There is no open sign-up form, and there is no sign-in with Google or another external provider – an invitation link is the only way in.

Redeeming an invitation

An invitation arrives as a link of the form libretimes.io/join/<ticket>. Opening it takes you to the registration form with the invitation already attached.

You will be asked for:

  • A handle. This is your public name on the platform, and it becomes your profile address at libretimes.io/@yourhandle. It is checked for availability as you type. See Handles and display names for the rules and for what happens if you change it later.
  • Your name. Shown on your profile and next to anything you publish.
  • Email and password. The email address is also a way to sign in – once your account exists you can sign in with either your handle or your email.
  • Acceptance of the terms. Required; the form will not submit without it.

If the invitation was sent to your email address, that address is already confirmed and you will not be asked to verify it again. If you were invited by a link that was not tied to an address, you will get a confirmation email.

Invitations are single-use. Once redeemed, the link stops working.

If registration fails

The form refuses to create a half-made account. If you see an error rather than a new profile, nothing was created and the invitation has not been spent – try the link again. If it keeps failing, contact us with the invitation link and the error message.

After your account exists

You have a profile at libretimes.io/@yourhandle with nothing on it yet. Quick start walks through filling it in.

Your profile is an academic CV, not a social bio. It has room for:

  • Education and degrees
  • Positions and employment
  • Teaching record
  • Talks and events
  • Grants and fellowships
  • Awards, certificates, and memberships
  • Skills and expertise
  • Contact details and links
  • Researcher IDs – ORCID, Scopus, Web of Science

Each section can be shown to everyone, to signed-in readers only, or kept private. Your profile covers the visibility rules.

Managing your account afterwards

Password changes, two-factor authentication, email address changes, and signing out of other sessions are handled in your account settings. See Signing in and account security.
