How-to guides
Step-by-step guides for common writing tasks in LibreTimes Markdown, from formulae and theorems to figures, citations, books and importing LaTeX.
Each guide takes one task from start to finish, with the result you should see at the end. If you have not written on LibreTimes before, start with the quickstart, which touches most of them in ten minutes.
| Guide | The task |
|---|---|
| Write mathematics | Formulae in a sentence and on their own lines, aligned equations, numbered equations, derivations |
| Write a theorem and its proof | Theorems, lemmas and definitions with names and numbers, proofs, your own kinds, problems with hints and solutions |
| Add a figure or a gallery | An image with a caption, several images side by side, and links to them from the text |
| Draw a diagram with TikZ | A diagram, a commutative square or a plot compiled from TikZ source, in a figure or a proof |
| Cite works and cross-reference | Sources in footnotes and in the references list, links to your own theorems, figures and equations |
| Organise a page with tabs and collapsible sections | Alternatives a reader chooses between, and detail a reader opens when they want it |
| Mention people and attach files | Link a colleague's profile, and link a data set or slides from the text |
| Write a book | Chapters, parts and their order, on the site or from files with lt |
| Convert a LaTeX or Word document | Import a .tex, a LaTeX project or a .docx, and finish what conversion cannot |
Every construct a guide uses is listed in the syntax reference, and the reasons behind the rules are in the concepts.
